October 13, 1935 March 10, 2026

Willis, TX

Cletus “Joe” Joseph Goetz, Jr., 90, of Willis, passed away on March 10, 2026. Born on October 13, 1935, in Rome, Kentucky, to Cletus Goetz and Louise Purcell, Joe grew up with a strong sense of duty and pride that would define his life.

He served his country in the United States Air Force as a mechanic specializing in B-52 bomber hydraulics. After his military service, Joe worked as a carpenter and continued practicing his trade well into his eighties alongside his sons. He took great pride in his craftsmanship and, through his years as a handyman, turned many customers into lasting friends. Joe never met a stranger; everyone he encountered was welcomed with warmth and treated like a friend from the first moment.

Deeply devoted to his faith and his family, Joe lived with conviction and quiet strength. He cherished time outdoors, especially fishing, and was known for his remarkable ability to recite the ABCs backwards. He shared 66 years of marriage with his loving wife, Dorothy, and remained a steadfast presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons Daryl and wife Melissa, Steve and wife Peggy; daughter Laura and husband Tim; seven grandchildren, Miranda and husband Robert, Jacob, Scott and wife Andi, Brian and wife Courtney, Levi and wife Christa, Luke and Sensi; and three great-grandchildren, Gianna, GiaCobbe, and Piper. He is also survived by his sisters Darlene and husband Mickey, and Vannah, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Bill Goetz, Richard Goetz, and Mike Sandidge, and his in-laws Frank and Eleanor Brooker.

Joe will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of the outdoors, his pride in serving his country, and the many friendships he formed throughout his long life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
