Claude Willie Burton Sr.

Claude Willie Burton, Sr. was born on December 16, 1945, in Elberton, Georgia, to the late Cordell Burton, Sr. and the late Rocilla Turman Baker. He passed away quietly and peacefully at his residence on March 9, 2026.

Preceded in death by his wife, Marie Blackwell Burton, and his four brothers, Samuel Turman, Thomas Baker, Walter Leroy Baker, and Virgil Dale Baker, Claude is remembered as a devoted family man who lived his life in Elberton with quiet strength and dignity.

He is survived by his children, Nancy Burton, Claude (Patty) Burton, Jr., and Quincy Burton, all of Elberton; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his nine siblings, Cordell Burton and James (Henrietta) Baker of Elberton, Charles Baker and Harold (Mary) Baker of Atlanta, LaMark (Tamala) Baker of Athens, Sarah Montgomery, Deckrise (Rudolph) Moore, Ruthie (Eric) Anderson of Atlanta, and Barbara Jordan of Augusta. He also leaves behind a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory.
