Claude S. Chambers
November 13, 1937— March 7, 2026
Brownfield, TX
Claude S. Chambers, born on November 13, 1937, in Brownfield, Texas, to Mack and Ruby Chambers, passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 88.
A graduate of Wellman High School in 1956, Claude cherished memories of playing basketball and forming lifelong friendships there. He married his beloved wife, Bobbie June Moore, on December 19, 1959, and the couple shared 66 years of love, laughter, and shared dreams. Raised on a farm, he carried forward the values of hard work and perseverance, which he and June instilled in their family after moving to Austin in 1970.
Claude devoted 30 years as a technician in Audiovisual Services at the University of Texas, where his skill and dedication made a lasting impression. Known fondly as “Mr. Fix It,” he was always eager to help his daughters, Claudia and Lisa, with projects of every kind, approaching each task with enthusiasm and expertise.
Outgoing and blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, Claude embraced life with a positivity that lifted those around him. He found delight in simple pleasures, from watching his favorite westerns on “Saddle-up Saturday” to lively discussions about his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Even in his later years, he greeted others with a warm smile and his signature reply, “I’m doing good for the shape that I’m in.”
Claude was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Ruby Chambers; his daughter, Mary Jane Chambers; three brothers, Clevis, Clifford, and Cecil; and three sisters, Cleo, Louise, and Doris. He is survived by his wife, June Chambers; daughters Claudia Esparza and Lisa Dickerson; brother Carl Chambers and his wife Bonnie; grandsons Robert Esparza (Jessica), Nathan Dickerson, and Ben Dickerson; and great-grandson Jaxson Esparza.
