Harter, age 62, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Parkview Noble Emergency Room.He was born June 12, 1963, in Sturgis, Michigan, to Ralph and Betty (Markley) Harter.Clarence was a 1982 graduate of Lakeland High School and went on to work in various manufacturing positions throughout the area.On August 14, 1999, he married the love of his life, Joy M. Musser, in LaGrange, Indiana.Clarence had been living at Sacred Heart Village in Avilla.Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Joy M. Harter of LaGrange, Indiana; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Musser of Shipshewana, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Melody (Elmer) Hochstetler of Shipshewana, Indiana, Cindy Shull of Rome City, Indiana, Deb (Chuck) Rahn of Three Rivers, Michigan, and Pat (Duane) Frick of Palmetto, Florida; his best friend and "brother from another mother," Jeffrey Gibson of Avilla; a special couple in his life, Dale and the late Margaret Redding of LaGrange, Indiana; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Sadie, who was his sunshine.He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Belinda L. Harter; a brother, Jerry A. Harter; two brothers-in-law, Banner Shull and Farrell Bennett; a niece, Georgia Keller; and a nephew, Darin Hochstetler.The family extends their sincere thanks to Parkview EMS, Parkview Emergency Room staff, Sacred Heart Village, and DaVita in Kendallville for their care and compassion shown to Clarence.In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place, and his remains will be laid to rest at Scott Cemetery in Shipshewana, Indiana, at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Clarence's memory to the donor's choice.See you on the flip side.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
