Clara Scales ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory on Mar. 16, 2026.Clara Mae Scales, 80, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 6:13 a.m., Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Life Care Center in Michigan City.Clara was born on August 17, 1945, in the beautiful town of Harriman, Tennessee, to Maynard and Louise Phillips.On September 2, 1978, she married Daniel D. Scales, Sr. in Michigan City, Indiana.In 2013, she retired from Sullair Corporation after 32 years of service.Clara loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a fan of NASCAR and the Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed going to the casino and reading. She also enjoyed tending to her roses and watching the humming birds and the deer in her yard.She is survived by her children, Sharon (Gilbert) Romero , and Heather (Matthew) Yazel ; Step-children, Daniel (Phyllis) Bolin and Rebecca Starr (Mike) Arnold; sister, Carol Ann Gray; her grandchildren, Lindsay (Caleb) Loniewski, Chelsea Romero, Samantha Weinbrecht, Benjamin Bolin, Isaac Bolin, Jessica Arnold, and Nicholas Arnold; and great grandchildren, Logan, Odin, Caelin, Furie, Kass, and Piper.Clara was preceded in death by her husband Daniel; parents, Maynard and Louise Phillips; sisters, Della Faye Haeflinger, and Mary Francis Phillips.There will be a celebration of life at 12:30 p.m., Monday, March 23, 2026 Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte (219) 362-3100 with Pastor Joseph Watterson officiating. There will be a visitation and viewing from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
