Bucherer and Elizabeth Bucherer of West Long Branch, New Jersey. Claire has two surviving siblings, Helen Sanders (Tucson, AZ) and Lois Wilford (Tucson, AZ). Their brother Charles Bucherer (Oceanport, NJ) preceded them in death in 2023.Claire was a proud graduate of the Class of 1960 from Long Branch High School. It was in High School where Claire met her first husband, Rocco Penta, Jr. Rocky enrolled in the U.S. Army and Claire attended Floral School in New York City. The two were married in May of 1963. Claire and Rocky had three children: Phillip Penta (Tammie Penta) of Oro Valley, AZ, Brian Penta (Pattie Kurau) of Neptune, NJ and Margaret Roberts (Gregory Roberts) of Leland, NC. Claire has 6 grandchildren: Nicholas, Victor & Raquel Penta, Julia and Kelly Roberts and Victoria Poncio and 5 great-grandchildren, (Thomas, Arabella, Mia, Luna & Eva) as well as several nieces & nephews.Living on the Jersey Shore for most of her life, Claire loved the Boardwalk, going to the beach and in her younger years worked as a florist at West Long Branch Florist Shop & Van Brunt Flower Shop. Working for the Hartford Insurance Group brought Claire years of enjoyment as she would often cook soups and baked goods for her co-workers and friends. Claire and Rocky raised their children in Oakhurst, NJ where they had many friends and neighbors that they spent a lot of time with. During her childhood and into mid life, Claire was a member of the Old First United Methodist Church in West Long Branch, helping with potlucks and floral arrangements for Sunday Services. Claire will be remembered for her vegetable and flower gardens and of course entertaining over the years for big family gatherings. When Claire married Robert Wegner in 2004, she relocated to East Hanover and was an active member of the North Jersey Mercedes Benz Club. She will be most remembered for her passion of showing her father's 1956 Mercedes SL, which her son, Brian restored in the late 1990's. Baby Blue won very prestigious invitational only car shows such as the Concours d' Elegance. Brian and Claire attended local cars as well as multiple road trips across the country together, with funny tales created along the way. Over the years Claire made many trips to Arizona for Thanksgiving and to be with her Arizona family. She attended each of the five grandchildren's High School Graduations in Arizona and also loved going to Colorado with Margaret and Greg. She and Bob traveled together to Aruba for several years where Bob caught the fish and Claire cooked it, she even packed her own seasonings!Claire was a loving mother, devoted daughter and daughter-in-law, for years she provided care to her father and always made sure her in laws, Julia & Rocco had meals to eat. It was not easy being a single mother to 3 teenagers in the 80's but Claire managed to chauffeur everyone around and kept the house stocked with homemade pizza's, blueberry muffins, cookies and her sweet breads.A Memorial Service will be held at the Fiore-Buckley Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A very special "Celebrating Claire" event will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Monmouth Park Race Track. Claire's 1956 Mercedes will be in the Classic Car Show-this event is free for anyone who wants to attend and runs from 11 am to 4 pm. Stop by and see us, grab a blueberry muffin and a glass of champagne. Picnic Area 8 has been reserved for 100 guests-this requires an RSVP as it includes admission to the Race Track. Lunch will be provided starting at 12:00 pm. We are also on the list to sponsor one of the horse races that day. More details to come.Claire's Children would like to send a special recognition to Sandra Jean Charles, Claire's private caregiver for the past two years, who loved Claire like her own mother. Also, the team at Brightview Senior Living, Wellsprings Community for the exceptional care and compassion they provided our mother with for nearly two years. Living with Dementia was not an easy chapter of her life, but we found beauty in the tender moments and just focused on being fully present and in the moment with her."Aham brahmasmi-I am Spirit"………….
