Cindy Waldo ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Plainville Funeral Home - Plainville on Mar. 16, 2026.Cindy J. Waldo (Lyons), 68, passed away peacefully on Friday March 13, 2026 surrounded by family she loved fiercely after a long fight battling muscular dystrophy. True to form, Cindy fought her illness the same way she lived her life: with sass, grit, strength, and just the right amount of stubbornness.Born on July 3, 1957 in New Britain, Cindy was the daughter of the late Clifford and Joan (Daigle) Lyons. She was raised and educated in Plainville and later settled back in New Britain with her husband of 45 years, Bernard Waldo.Cindy was a great Mom to her son Elijah who has always been her heart. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren who called her "Mem" (Memere). Cindy made it her mission to spoil them whenever possible.Cindy was larger than life. She was an avid and highly skilled "crap talker," never one to shy away from a little playful banter. She always insisted on speaking her mind, no matter how strong her opinions or if anybody had even asked. But behind that sharp wit and bold honesty was a deeply loyal, loving woman who would do anything for the people she cared about. Cindy's spit-fire personality made it easy for her to make friends everywhere she went, and everybody always looked forward to their conversations with her. Before the disease made life more difficult for Cindy, she most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Some of her favorite activities include playing games, going on walks to get out in nature and feel the sun, shopping, singing songs, dancing, and cuddling.Cindy's family will miss her terribly and take comfort in knowing she left this world in the same way she lived: surrounded by love and leaving people with stories they'll be telling for years. In addition to her husband Bernard, she leaves her son Elijah, her grandchildren Destini, Karah, and Elijah, her great grandchildren Jaylah and Delilah, her brothers Brad Lyons and wife Sue, Mark Lyons and wife Kathy, her sisters Penny Ripa and husband Mike, Karen Plourde and husband Roland, Diana Plourde and husband Joel, her nieces and nephews Danielle, Brandi and Andrea Lyons, JoAnne Lyons-Piotrowski, Kyle, Brittany, and Briana Ripa, Jamie, Valerie, Joshua, Josiah, Jared, and Tammy Plourde. Cindy also leaves many great nieces and nephews who she loved greatly along with many other family members. While the relationships and bonds may have been different, her love was always there. Her words, "I love all my family".In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Cindy by hugging your loved ones, speaking your mind, and sending bright and colorful balloons up into the sky in her memory.Cindy's family will celebrate her life with private services. She will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home extends their gratitude to Cindy's family for their trust.
