Christopher J. Nelson

Christopher J. Nelson, age 42, a lifelong resident of Ishpeming, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Born in Ishpeming on February 21, 1984, Chris was the son of the late Thomas and Myrna (Maxwell) Nelson. He grew up in the Ishpeming area and graduated from Westwood High School with the class of 2003. For nearly twenty years, he worked as a heavy equipment operator at A&L Iron and Metal. In his free time, Chris found joy in fishing, boating, and taking his dogs for long walks.

He is survived by his siblings Michelle (Matthew) Lorenz, Christi (John) Robinson, Janel (Patrick) Huddleston, Thomas Nelson, and Mark Nelson; nieces Amanda, Whitney, Savannah, Micaela, Jade, and Rachael; nephews Arron, Forest, Marc, and Zachary; step-nieces Jasmine, Autumn, and Chanel; along with several great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his beloved dog Murphy.
