He is preceded in death by his father, Terry Martin; and is survived by his wife, Whitney Poteet; sons, Corey Poteet and Maverick Martin; daughters, Olivia Poteet and Abigail Martin; sister, Jessica Nolan; and a host of many other family and friends.Chris was a devoted father who loved his children more than anything. He was known for his sharp wit, sarcastic humor, and playful spirit, always quick with a joke or a laugh. Chris especially enjoyed surprising his wife, Whitney, a small reflection of the joy and affection they shared. Curious and intelligent, he had a strong interest in science, loved podcasts, and was a true movie and television enthusiast, particularly science fiction. He was a fan of Stargate, Batman, video games, and simple comforts like milk and cookies, along with his favorite candies, Tootsie Rolls, Twix, and Snickers.Chris and Whitney fell in love at first sight and shared six years of marriage filled with laughter and companionship. He worked for nearly 15 years at United Engineers as a Party Chief Land Surveyor, where he was respected for his knowledge and dedication. At home, Chris loved to cook and was known to be very good at it, taking pride in caring for those he loved. He will be remembered for his humor, intelligence, kindness, and the deep love he had for his family. Chris will be greatly missed by all who knew him.A Memorial service to celebrate Chris's life will be held at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland on Thursday, March 12th, 2026, beginning at 1:00 pm.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
