Christopher Allen Webber Jr.

Christopher Allen Webber Jr., born October 23, 1944, in Rutland, Vermont, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family. The son of Christopher and Esther (Ladue) Webber, Chris grew up in Rutland before attending Millbrook School and Middlebury College, where he studied music and played hockey. He earned his law degree from the University of Maine and returned to Rutland to practice alongside his father and brother, proudly carrying on five generations of Vermont lawyers. Deeply committed to his community, he played a key role in establishing Rutland’s first indoor hockey rink and developing the local Pee Wee hockey program. An experienced pilot, he enjoyed flying across New England with his Labrador Retriever, York, as his trusted co-pilot.

In Rutland, Chris met Constance “Coco” Brewer. They married in 1976 and made their home in East Wallingford, Vermont, while spending cherished summers in Ocean Point, Maine, which became their second home. Fly fishing remained his lifelong passion, leading him to remote streams and quiet ponds throughout Northern New England. He treasured his time at the Lake Mitchell Trout Club, where he first fished with his parents and later passed the tradition on to his sons. A gifted pianist and composer, Chris created an extensive collection of original works, many written for friends and family, leaving behind a deeply personal musical legacy.

Chris is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Coco Webber; his son Christopher A. Webber III, his wife Hannah, and their two children, Christopher IV (“Chip”) and Hayes, of Dover, Massachusetts; his son Peter Webber and his husband Greg Winter of Concord, Massachusetts; and his sister, Mary Munroe. He was predeceased by his brother, John Webber.
