Christopher Allen Clark-Sumner

August 25, 1983 March 8, 2026

Batesville, AR

Christopher Allen Clark-Sumner, 42, of Arkansas, passed away on March 8, 2026. Born on August 25, 1983, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Denise Marie Clark and Patrick Allen Sumner, Chris moved to Arkansas at the age of four with his mother, stepfather Bud Michael, and younger sister Crystal. There he grew up, forming the family bonds and lifelong friendships that defined the man he became.

At eighteen, Chris joined the Army National Guard and served two tours in Iraq, earning multiple awards and commendations for his courage and dedication. Those who served with him remembered his serious commitment to duty and his steadfast loyalty to those under his protection. After returning home, he pursued a career in nursing, beginning as a Certified Nursing Assistant, advancing to Licensed Practical Nurse, and ultimately earning his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington, graduating with honors. Over eleven years as a registered nurse, Chris distinguished himself through his clinical skill, strong work ethic, and genuine compassion. His empathy and gentle presence left a lasting impression on patients and their families, and he was honored with the DAISY Award multiple times.

Above all, Chris was devoted to his family. His role as a father was central to his life, and his love for his children was unwavering and protective.

He is survived by his children, Cameron Carrier, Courtney Austin, Olivia Rider, Mason Sumner, and Bennett Sumner; his six beloved grandchildren; his father, Patrick Allen Sumner; his stepfather, Bud Michael; his sisters, Octavia Sumner, Alicia Marie Crawford, and Crystal Dawn McWhirter; his brother, Wesley Daniel Michael; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Denise Marie Clark.

Chris lived a life of service, first to his country, then to the sick and vulnerable, and always to the people he loved. He will be remembered as a courageous soldier, a compassionate healer, a loyal protector, and a deeply loved father, son, brother, and friend.
