Christine Ingeborg Roberts

August 18, 1939 March 12, 2026

Albuquerque, NM

Christine Ingeborg Searcy Roberts passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, with her daughter Angela by her side.

Born on August 18, 1939, in Vienna, Austria, to Hedwig Voelkl LeFors, Christine immigrated to the United States as a teenager with her mother and sister, Lucille. She married Talmadge Searcy on August 21, 1957. A woman who deeply valued education, she worked while pursuing her studies and raising her family. She and Talmadge welcomed two daughters, Angela and Veronica, as Christine earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from New Mexico State University, where she was also a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. She taught German at a high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before beginning a distinguished 21-year career as a Personnel Officer, GS-13, with the United States government, retiring in 1997.

After Talmadge’s passing in 1982, Christine married James Roberts on February 18, 1986. The couple spent many years traveling the world, including living in Germany, before settling near her daughter Angela in retirement.

Christine took great pride in her accomplishments, yet those who knew her best recognized that her deepest joy came from her family. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her intelligence, quick wit, generous heart, love of reading, and passion for language, but above all for the profound love she held for her family.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Hedwig; her husbands, Talmadge and James; her daughter, Veronica; and her sister, Lucille.

Christine is survived by her daughter, Angela Williams (David); her stepson, Michael Roberts (Marilyn); her grandson, Justin Williams (Amy); her granddaughter, Brittany Reinke (Keven); and her seven great-grandchildren: Micah, Shelby, Brenna, Aidan, Benjamin, Leo, and Miles.
