The Villages, FL
Christine Bennett Courtwright, age 74, of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2026.
Born on May 17, 1951 in Waverly, New York to the late Arthur and Eleanor Bennett, Christine graduated from Cato-Meridian High School in 1970. She began her career in the cancer research biostatistics group at Bristol Myers in Syracuse, New York. She later became a driver’s education instructor, a role she truly loved, where she worked to make lessons enjoyable while ensuring her students became safe, confident drivers.
After more than two decades living in Pompey, New York with her husband James, the couple retired to The Villages, Florida. In retirement, Christine found joy in golfing, weekly games of mahjong and train, beach combing, and kayaking. She will be remembered most fondly by her friends for her remarkable tenacity in researching and cataloguing the Bennett family genealogy, tracing records back to 17th-century ship manifests and the earliest cemeteries in the Danby, New York area.
Christine is survived by her beloved husband James; daughters Ronda Scott (Edward) and Keri Courtwright; brothers Randy Bennett (Lorrie) and Arthur Bennett (Francine); sister Liz Cuccinello (Joe); and great aunts Marilind “Lindy” Wolfe and Katherine “Skip” Brozowski (Bill). She was preceded in death by her parents.
