Christian Davodet

Christian Davodet

North Kingstown, RI

Christian Davodet, 54, of North Kingstown, a beloved son, brother, and uncle, passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2026. Born in Providence, he was the cherished son of Patricia (Savella) Griggs of Providence and Bernard Davodet, who resides in Camden, Maine and Paris, France. He was the stepson of the late Glenn E. Griggs, who lovingly raised him as his own son. Christian grew up in East Greenwich and graduated from East Greenwich High School in 1990. Following his high school graduation, he was employed at Griggs & Browne for several years, a period of his life he always recalled fondly. He resided in Jamestown and, most recently, North Kingstown. Christian's childhood fascination with bulldozers and heavy machinery grew into a career as a heavy equipment operator and a dedicated member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 57. His expertise and commitment in this field were appreciated by his community and coworkers, reflecting the great pride he took in his work. Beyond his profession, he found immense happiness in living by the shore, delighting in life's simple pleasures—watching boats pass by, observing wildlife, and spending time outdoors—where he felt at once most at peace and most alive. He was also an ardent enthusiast of fast cars and racing motorcycles. Music was a constant in his life, especially metal and classic rock, and he knew it inside and out, recalling lyrics, band members, albums, and release years with ease. Immensely compassionate, he had a lifelong devotion to animals that began in a home where caring for them was simply part of everyday life. He helped rescue many animals over the years, forming especially close bonds with several pets he adored. Christian cherished time spent with family and friends above all else, finding joy in being together—from casual days down by the bay to holiday celebrations, birthdays, or simply meeting at his favorite local pub. He lived life fully and loudly, commanding attention with his presence. Funny and quick-witted, with a remarkable memory, he was a natural entertainer who enlivened every occasion. His personality was bold and larger than life, yet beneath his strong exterior, he was incredibly kind, empathetic, and sensitive. He formed meaningful, lasting friendships wherever he went, connecting easily with others and endearing himself to everyone through his humor and authenticity. To many, Christian felt more like a brother than a friend, forging bonds that will endure beyond his passing. Christian was a dependable and loving family member—generous with his time, his advice, and his heart. At the center of a small, incredibly close family, he was a steady presence of joy, devotion, and love whose absence is profoundly felt by his mother, Patricia Griggs, and his father, Bernard Davodet; his sisters, Jacqueline (Davodet) Robinson, Lauren Griggs, and Monica (Griggs) Cardi; his niece, Beatrice, and nephew, Christian Cardi. Christian leaves behind the echo of laughter and a love deeper than words—gifts that will remain with those who knew him always. To honor his memory, please consider donating to the Wildlife Rehabilitators Association of RI, PawsWatch Community Cat Center, or Friends of Homeless Animals of RI, if you wish to celebrate his legacy. Funeral and burial will be private. Visiting hours will be held from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown. Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects during this time. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hill-Skeffington Funeral Home.
