A Life Beautifully Lived, A Heart Deeply Loved
Christene Pansy Toone passed from this life on March 13, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on August 20, 1934, in the township of Union, Arkansas, to her parents, Clarence McKinley Haley and Grace Alice Smith.
Christene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Weldon Toone; her parents; her son, Jimmy Wayne Toone; her brothers Bobby Haley, Oscar Haley, James Haley, and Vernon Haley; her sisters Irene Kean, Grace Alice Knocke, Violet Haley, and Daisy Haley; and her nephew Ronald Sammons.
She is survived by her daughters Brenda Stephens, Sue Davis, Deborah Nolen, and Rene Bass; her brothers Johnny (Joyce) Haley and J.C. (Jean) Haley; her sisters Francis Pitts and Joyce Reagan; along with 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Christene worked as a seamstress for many years and was truly the light of her grandchildren's lives. She loved tending to her garden, planting flowers, and watching classic black-and-white westerns on television. Her warmth, humor, and love touched all who knew her, and her memory will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends.
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." — Revelation 21:4
