Chris Phipps

Thomas Christopher “Chris” Phipps, age 71, of Tupelo, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Born on July 23, 1954, to Jack S. Phipps, Sr. and Nancy Albritton Phipps, Chris lived with a spirit of adventure and a deep love for people. He found great joy in kayaking, backpacking, and traveling, and he especially cherished his journey to Africa on safari. Whether on the water, on the trail, or exploring a new destination, he embraced every experience with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Chris was known for his outgoing and friendly nature. He truly never met a stranger; his warmth and genuine kindness made everyone around him feel welcome and valued. For many years he served the community at North Mississippi Medical Center, where his compassion and dedication touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues. A longtime member of St. James Catholic Church, his faith, service, and generous spirit remained guiding forces throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife, Donna “Leigh” Phipps; his siblings, Jack S. Phipps, Jr. (Patty), Tim Phipps (Margaret), Larry Phipps (Teresa), Phyllis Jernigan (Bill), and Nanette Holland; and many nieces and nephews.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John S. Phipps; his sister-in-law, Brenda Phipps; his brother-in-law, Ralph “Duck” Holland; and his nephews, Matthew Phipps and Philip Phipps.
