March 16, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Chester was born in Diddington, England on April 6, 1948. He came to the United States on the Queen Mary when he was 2 years old and resided in Perth Amboy until his family moved to Forked River. Chet graduated in 1966 from Central Regional High School, Bayville. He attended OCC and graduated from the Police Academy.Chester was preceded in death by his parents, Boleslaw and Benedykta Jurkiewicz. Chet was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy (Grant) and they shared 56 wonderful years together. He is also survived by his 2 children, son Jeff Jurkiewicz and daughter in law Janel, daughter Stacy Petry and son in law Bob. Chet also had six cherished grandchildren Gordon (Lexi), Jorden, Dan, Jesse, Griffin and Sydney (Michael).Chet was a Lacey Township Police Officer for over 40 years. During this time, he worked in the Detective Bureau and retired as a Sergeant in 2010. In addition, Chet had his own tile business. Outside of work, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling and cheering on his grandchildren. However, his favorite place was with his bride at their home in sunny Florida.To celebrate a life well lived, a viewing will be held on Thursday, March 19th, 2026 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Rt. 9, Forked River, NJ 08731. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Friday at 9:30 am at St. Mary's RC Church, 747 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ 08731.
