Chester Devor “Chet” Fawbush, Jr.

A memorial visitation celebrating the life of Chester Devor “Chet” Fawbush, Jr., 84, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Monday, March 9, 2026, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Chester was born on May 12, 1941, in Louisville, Kentucky and passed away on March 6, 2026.

Chester “Chet” Fawbush, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and faithful servant to his country and community, passed from this life leaving behind a legacy built on hard work, generosity, and unwavering love for his family.

Born one of fifteen children, Chet learned early the value of resilience, grit, and looking out for others. At fourteen, he joined a traveling carnival. When he came of age, he answered a deeper calling and enlisted in the United States Air Force in Little Rock, Arkansas. He served his country with honor. He was active duty from 1961 to 1965 and reserve duty until 1967 ultimately being honorably discharged as an Airman Second Class.

It was in Little Rock that Chet met the love of his life, Glena Cathy. They married in her hometown of Banks, Arkansas, beginning a beautiful partnership that lasted fifty-one years. Together they built a life grounded in devotion, laughter, and steadfast commitment.

Chet and Glena eventually made their home in West Monroe, Louisiana, where he began a long and dedicated career at Olinkraft Paper Mill. As a pipe fitter, he worked with skill, pride, and integrity for thirty-five years before retiring. Retirement, however, never slowed him down. Chet poured his energy into his small antique shop and his exterminating business, finding joy in the work of his hands and the people he served.

He had a deep passion for fishing, woodworking, and antiquing. Hobbies that reflected his patient nature and his love for creating, restoring, and discovering hidden treasures. But nothing brought him more joy than his girls and his grandchildren. He doted on them endlessly, cheering them on in every season of their lives. To them, he was not just a father and grandfather, he was their number one fan.

He was a faithful supporter of his church, sponsoring missions and helping many young people pursue their education. He gave quietly, freely, and without hesitation. If someone was in need, Chet was the kind of man who showed up no questions asked.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glena Fay Cathy Fawbush; wife, Margaret Osteen Fawbsuh; mother, Dorothy Sevella Moppin Fawbush Bowman; father, Chester Devor Fawbush, Sr.; and stepfather, Samuel Bowman, Sr.; and siblings, Myrtle Fawbush Cranfield, Dorothy Fawbush Hancock, Samuel Bowman Jr., Loretta Bowman Sauer, and Cathy Bowman Berry.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his daughters, Angela Fay Fawbush LeBrun and husband, Joe and Kristy Leigh Bragg and husband, Gordon and numerous stepchildren; grandchildren, Jami Roberts and husband, Wayne, Joshua Cripps and wife, Amanda, Austin Bragg, and Zoe Bragg; great grandchildren, Dakota Roberts, Skylar Roberts, Maverick Cripps, Isadora Cripps, and Ashton Cripps; siblings, Elwood Fawbush, Emily Fawbush Hancock, Vernon “Frances” Fawbush Spiva, John Wayne Bowman, Joan Bowman Hancock, Brenda Bowman Murphy, Edna Bowman Hardin, Darlene Bowman Eason, and Tina Bowman Rich; as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
