Chesteene Spence
November 18, 1925— March 4, 2026
Cincinnati, OH
Chesteene Spence was a man of great faith, known for his unwavering spirit and nurturing nature. He accepted Christ at a young age and remained a devoted member of Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church for over 70 years, faithfully serving as a parking attendant every Sunday until his health began to decline.
Born and raised in the South, he embraced the values of hard work and kindness that shaped his life. After moving to Cincinnati, he built a loving home and became a pillar of strength for his family and all who knew him. He worked for 44 years as Supervisor of the Laundry Department at Good Samaritan Hospital, never missing a single day before his retirement.
An avid gardener, Chesteene found deep joy in tending his garden, much as he cared for those around him. He possessed a remarkable gift for storytelling, sharing wisdom and laughter that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His infectious smile, quiet sense of humor, and ability to make others feel valued will be remembered fondly by all whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his children, Wilford Morland (Arlene) of Kokomo, Indiana, Chestine Spence (Angela) and Larry Spence (Margo), both of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Bernice Alexander and Gloria Wilson; a special relative, Johnnie Walker; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry his spirit in their hearts.
