Chesley Patrick Parker

Chesley Patrick Parker, Sr., age 93, of Rome, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at a local healthcare facility.

Born in Rome on June 6, 1932, he was the son of the late Sam Parker and the late Bernice Lindsey Parker. He was preceded in death by his son, Chesley Parker, Jr., and his siblings, Sammy Parker, Harold Parker, Betty Lynn Boston, and Mike Parker.

A graduate of Darlington School, Mr. Parker was a longtime member of Trinity by the River. He spent many years coaching youth basketball teams for Rome-Floyd Parks & Recreation and worked as Safety Supervisor at Georgia Kraft, later known as Temple-Inland, before retiring. He shared 67 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sybil Burley Parker.

He is survived by his wife, Sybil; his daughter, Debbie Jones; his grandchildren, Chelsey Jones, Wes Jones, Hannah Parker, and Rachel Parker; and his great-granddaughter, Madeline Smallwood.
