Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. - East York on Mar. 10, 2026.Cheryl Ruth Hester, 73, loved by many, gently entered heaven on Feb. 24, 2026 after a brief illness.Born Nov, 19, 1953, a daughter of the late Wilbur and Doris (Whipple) Hester, State College, PA. was a graduate of Lock Haven High School. Cheryl was licensed in cosmetology; received a BS degree from Penn State, and a Master degree in social work from Marywood College, Scranton, specializing in therapy; individual and family planning. Cheryl accepted a position at Bell Socialization in York in 1988 as a therapist and was the Supervisor for the mental health therapy program until her retirement in 2021. She was a member of the former Temple Baptist Church and Faith Fellowship Church, involved in bible study and the music program.Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Curtis. Cheryl is survived by her brother, Paul, a sister-in-law, Ruth Hester; 3 nephews, and 1 niece.All who knew her agreed that she was a master of humorous puns.A Tribute Service will be held March 27, 7 PM at Faith Fellowship Church 530 Mulberry Street, York, PA.
