Cheryl Marie Vraa
February 17, 1959— March 9, 2026
Crookston, MN
Cheryl Marie Vraa, age 67, of Crookston, Minnesota, passed away on March 9, 2026, at HIA Heather's House in Fargo, North Dakota, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Cheri was born on February 17, 1959, in Crookston to LeRoy and Donna Koval. She graduated from Central High School and married at the age of 18. In 1981 she became a mother, a role that became the center of her life. She devoted herself to raising her three children in Nielsville, Minnesota, where she tended her beloved flower gardens and grew vegetables. She created countless joyful memories through family game nights playing Monopoly and Yahtzee, baking cookies, and dancing to oldies in the kitchen, often pulling a child into an impromptu twist. Cheri took great pleasure in hosting holidays, ensuring every gathering felt special and that no one left hungry. A woman of remarkable strength, she overcame breast cancer in 2005. Her warmth, loyalty, and fierce protectiveness made her a cherished daughter, sister, and friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Erin Tate of New Freedom, Pennsylvania, Zeb Vraa (Amanda) of Rosemount, Minnesota, and Bethany Vraa of Glen Rock, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Lizzie and Cayleb Tate, and Ean, Maddie, and Logan Vraa; her mother, Donna Koval; her brother, Chuck Koval; and many nieces, nephews, grand cats, and grand dogs. Cheri was preceded in death by her father, LeRoy Koval, and her brother, Dale Koval.
Her legacy of love, compassion, and quiet strength will remain forever in the hearts of those she touched.
