Cheryl K. Bellman

December 2, 1947 March 11, 2026

Bremen, IN

Cheryl K. Bellman, 78, of Bremen, passed away on March 11, 2026, in Elkhart General Hospital. Born on December 2, 1947, in Bremen to Arthur Jr. and Dorothy (Hanshew) Hardy, she married James W. Bellman on August 7, 1965, at Bremen Baptist Church. Jim preceded her in death on March 10, 2026.

Cheryl is survived by her three children, James “Jamie” (Amy) Bellman, Bryan (Kristin) Bellman, and Kari Bellman, all of Bremen; six grandchildren, Carson (Bess) Bellman of San Diego, California, Claire (Colton) Story of Danville, Illinois, Cannon Bellman, Madelyn Bellman, Laney Bellman, and Morgan (Ian Shriner) Smith, all of Bremen; and two great-grandchildren, Braxton and Wrenley Shriner. She is also survived by her stepmother, Dolores Hardy of Mishawaka, her sister, Vicki Maust of South Bend, and her brother, Matt (Marilyn) Hardy of Washington State. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dennis and David Hardy.

A woman of deep faith, Cheryl loved the Lord and her family beyond words. She was actively involved at Bremen Missionary Church, where she played piano for many years and quietly worked behind the scenes to ensure every detail was cared for. This same dedication and humble spirit helped her and her husband, Jim, build and grow Bellman Oil Co. together. She was never one to seek the spotlight, yet her steady, thoughtful presence made everything around her better.

Cheryl rarely missed an event in the lives of her children or grandchildren and delighted in sharing her love of music and singing with them. She took great pride in her home and landscaping, both in Bremen and at their second home in Florida, where she developed a passion for collecting seashells and enjoying long boat rides with her family. She and Jim became known for their ability to find dolphins and coax them to swim alongside their boat, creating cherished memories with those they loved most.
