Cheryl Daugherty

Cheryl R. Daugherty, age 63, of Broken Bow, passed away on March 12, 2026, at her home in Broken Bow following a short battle with cancer.

Cheryl was born on October 3, 1962, in Broken Bow to Patrick and Opal (Mattson) Powers. She grew up in Broken Bow and graduated from BBHS in 1981. She worked for many years at Sandhills Manor Care Home as a nurse’s aide. Later, she moved to North Platte to attend Mid-Plains Community College, where she earned her LPN degree. While living in North Platte, she married Vern Daugherty. The family eventually returned to Broken Bow. Although Cheryl and Vern later divorced, they remained longtime friends. She continued her career at Sandhills Manor and later at Callaway Good Life Center in Callaway.

Cheryl is survived by her son Jeremiah and his wife Stephanie Daugherty of Broken Bow, her stepdaughter Rhonda and husband Jason Buckhold of Springfield, Illinois, and three grandchildren: Janel and Chloe Daugherty and Elijah Buckhold. She is also survived by her brother Mike (Jill) Powers of Broken Bow, her sister Tammy Meredith of Broken Bow, and her longtime partner Vern Daugherty. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Dick.
