Marshfield, MA
Cheryl Ann Flagg, née Nangle, age 80, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026. Born on August 1, 1945, in Plymouth, she was the daughter of John “Bud” Nangle and Millie Nangle. Cheryl was the devoted wife of the late John “Jack” Flagg, Jr., with whom she shared 48 years of marriage.
She grew up in Marshfield and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1963. Cheryl went on to earn her degree in elementary education from North Adams State College and Boston State College. On August 5, 1967, she married Jack, beginning a loving partnership that would last nearly five decades.
Cheryl dedicated twenty years to teaching second grade at the South River School, where her patience, kindness, and encouragement left a lasting impression on generations of students. She later spent ten years at Queen Anne Nursing Home, bringing the same caring spirit and compassion to residents and staff alike. After retiring, she and Jack spent many happy years in Florida, where they enjoyed traveling on motorcycles with friends throughout the state and out west, including a memorable journey to Mount Rushmore.
Cheryl held a lifelong love of animals. She raised four generations of Golden Retrievers and regularly adopted older cats from local shelters. Those who knew her will remember her as a beautiful, kind, caring, and positive soul who always saw the good in others and remained fiercely loyal to family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, John “Jack” Flagg, Jr., and by her parents, John “Bud” and Millie Nangle. Cheryl is survived by her sister, Jayne Nangle Peterson and her husband Karl, her brother, Lawrence Nangle and his wife Linda, and several nieces and nephews.
