Cheryl A. Solomon, a longtime resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away on March 6, 2026, at a Dothan hospital. She was 78.
Born to the late Marvin Harold Riley and Ethel Glynn Riley, Cheryl graduated from Bay High School in Panama City, Florida, in 1965. She continued her education at Gulf Coast Community College and Wallace Community College. She worked as a sales associate at Parisians in the Wiregrass Commons Mall and later served as a substitute teacher. Her compassionate nature led her to care for the elderly, and she was employed with Hearts Homecare from 2016 to 2021. Known affectionately by many as “Mama Cheryl,” she loved singing karaoke, especially her favorite song, “Delta Dawn.” She was a member of the Headland Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ligon Thomas Solomon, along with her parents.
Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Robin Solomon Robinson (Larry); her son, Chris “Biscuit” Solomon; her brothers, Mike Riley (June) and Terry Glynn Riley (Lynn); her grandchildren, Rustin Solomon (Holly Hunter), Skyler Reynolds (Stephen), Harley Waits, Hunter Robinson (Taylor), Conner Robinson (Leah), and Jordan Vick (Jake); and her great-grandchildren, Scarlett Solomon, Oliver Solomon, Laynie Jack Robinson, and James Vick. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Rhoda Solomon Boone (Robert V. “Bobby” Boone); her brother-in-law, John W. Solomon (Jill); and several nieces and nephews.
