Chemene Marie Gallegos Korte Maldonado passed away on March 9, 2026. She was born in Pueblo, Colorado to Wayne Gallegos and Frances Korte on July 16, 1970.

Chemene was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Berlinda and Art Gonzalez, paternal grandparents Alfonso and Ercilia Gallegos, godparents Tony and Bernice Cruz, uncles Charlie Korte, Ronald Vigil, Michael Gallegos and Manuel Gallegos, aunts Faith Avila and Hope Moreno, and cousins Manuel Lawrence Gallegos and Drake Thomas.

She is survived by her sisters Crystal Sanchez and Rosa Guzman, brother Jose Dorado, beloved niece Savanah Cardenas, nephews Jesse Vigil and Ramiro Soto, step-siblings Celeste Martinez, James Diaz, Gabriela and Josiah Martinez and their families, along with many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins. Chemene was also deeply cherished by her close friends Eddie Escobar and Joyce Daniels, and by the love of her life, Eric Bills.

She carried a strong spirit and a beautiful heart. Her vibrant personality could light up any room, and her warm smile brought comfort to everyone around her. Strong-willed and passionate, Chemene was equally loving and devoted to those she held dear. A diehard Broncos fan who loved to dance, she brought laughter, stories, and abiding affection into the lives of her family and friends. To them she was far more than a sister, daughter, or companion; she was a bright presence whose memory will continue to live on in every heart she touched.
