Charlotte Anne Tate

Charlotte passed away on March 10, 2026 at the age of 78.

She was born in Los Angeles, California. Attended William S. Hart High School and grew up during a unique time in Southern California history, amid the cultural shifts of the late 1960s embracing the full hippie genre. The Boomer generation of women helped open the doors of nearly every profession, a remarkable achievement that reshaped society. Yet like many social changes, it carried unintended consequences. As more families relied on two incomes and traditional roles shifted, the responsibility of raising children often became less clearly shared, leaving many parents—especially mothers—trying to carry both worlds at once.

She married young and became the mother of three children. Life brought its share of hardships, and Charlotte worked hard through difficult years to raise her family, holding many different jobs along the way. Among them, she became an award-winning hairstylist, though she eventually grew tired of the bouffant styles that defined the era.

In 1976 she remarried and moved to Florence Montana, later moving to and living in Kooskia Idaho before settling in Grand Junction in 1981. Here she worked for several years at the Regional Center and was known for her dedication and loved the residents she took care of, becoming a guardian to Cheryl P.

Charlotte later married Louie Pattillo and spent 15 years living her best life in Las Vegas near her parents and other family. She eventually returned to Grand Junction, where she worked as a waitress and CNA.

Faith was important to Charlotte. She was a Christian who was drawn by a sincere love of God and a desire to live according to her beliefs. She met Ron Tate and they married in 2010. He preceded her in death May 2025.

Charlotte experienced deep loss in her lifetime. She was preceded in death by her sons, Billy, who passed in 1982, and Michael, who passed in 2012.

She is survived by her daughter, who will miss all the things they still had to talk about, Michelle Berkley (Mark); her sister, Debi Thibodeaux of Pahrump, Nevada; her brother, David Mills of Lancaster, California; grand daughters Misty DelTonto ( Jason ), and Allyson Berkley, her best friend Tina Shook, along with extended family and friends who will remember her when they listen to Pink Floyd, Foreigner, or Bob Seger.

Charlotte will be remembered by those who knew her for her resilience, her sharp sense of humor, and the unmistakable spunk she carried throughout her life. Her friends especially loved her wit and her ability to bring laughter into everyday moments. At Charlotte’s request, no services will be held.

Her family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center and La Villa Grande Care Center for the compassionate care and kindness they showed Charlotte.
