Charlie Raymond Wheeler

Charlie “Raymond” Wheeler, age 78, passed away on March 5, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and Vietnam War veteran, Raymond was a longtime member of Redeemers Worship Center. He shared 55 years of marriage with his wife, Patsy Wheeler, and was known as a kindhearted man who cherished time with friends and family. Raymond never missed an opportunity to strike up a conversation, and he held a special place in the hearts of his grandchildren, who lovingly called him the grandchild whisperer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Vonell Wheeler; brothers David Owings, Michael Owings, Harry Owings, and Ralph Owings; sisters Nancy Dykes and Lanell McKinney (Earnest); and his beloved grandparents Charlie and Nancy Bryant Buckins.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Patsy Wheeler; sons Robert Alton Wheeler (Cindy) and James Keith Wheeler (Kendra); brother Johnny Owings; sisters Sharon Smith (Nathan) and Carolyn Courson; grandchildren Autumn Fariss, Kason Wheeler, Kade Wheeler, Kinsley Wheeler, Rhett Wheeler, and Rocky Wheeler; and great-grandchildren Wrenlee Fariss, Gunner Fariss, and Cedar Rose Fariss. His warmth, steady presence, and love for his family will be deeply missed.
