Before his honorable discharge in 1969, he met his future wife Judith Dwyer, on a blind date in Newport Beach the Second (Sachuest) in Middletown, Rhode Island.Charlie married the love of his life in September 1970, and they began their new chapter as husband & wife. Charlie worked for Kraft General Foods, a career that took him to Maryland, Delaware, Illinois and ultimately Ohio. Before retiring, Charlie followed his heart, earning his Master's Degree in Theology and entering the Deacon Formation program. Becoming an ordained Deacon in November 2008 was a very proud accomplishment that led to his 2nd vocation at Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, formerly known as Pope John XXIII, where he served actively until 2022. Charlie was never one to sit still; he served as Parish Administrator for St. Pius X for seven years. He was an invaluable leader in three parish's RCIA/OCIA programs, a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and a very enthusiastic youth sports coach in his earlier years.Charlie was a good man who left a lasting impression in every conversation. He could always be found rooting on his Philadelphia teams or sharing a classic dad joke, and he especially loved hearing his grandchildren call him "Papa."He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially by his adoring wife, Judith; his children, Patricia (Eric) Strohm, Colleen (Kenny) Layne, Brian (Sarah) Miller; grandchildren, Matthew, Caitlyn, William, Jackson and Archer; siblings, Helen (Gerry) Plourde; Ed (Rosemary) Miller.
