Charley LaCrosse ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by E.J. Fielding Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Mar. 16, 2026.Charley Thomas LaCrosse, known to many as "Batman," made his grand exit from the world on Friday, March 13, 2026, at his home in Covington, Louisiana surrounded by family, love and laughter. He was 71 3/4 years old; according to him he was in his prime. His favorite quote was "I ain't no daisy."Born on May 7, 1954, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Charley grew up on the bayousurrounded by a big, loving family. He was the kind of guy who never met a stranger, who treated his family like best friends and loved his friends like family. Charley lived and loved in the purple rain, and he believed wholeheartedly in living life to the fullest and in second chances.Charley was tri-lingual, a masterful storyteller, one of the most stubborn people you would ever meet, and easily one of the most selfless. He was incredibly proud of his work as a maintenance supervisor at Chenier in Mandeville, and man, did he love to work. When he wasn't working, you could find him cheering on his beloved Minnesota Vikings with unwavering loyalty, cooking up a seafood boil, browsing the aisles at Home Depot, teaching meteorology to anyone who agreed to be his captive audience, cruising in his truck, trying his luck at the casino or playing the Pick 3, He was a fan of old westerns, Christmas lights, hurricane season, and good music. He was a faithful friend, an easy going soul, and a mechanic who could fix just about anything.Above all, Charley was the grandest grandpa. His grandchildren, Austin Coleman, Kaylee Orazio, and Caleb Orazio, were his absolute proudest achievements.Charley is survived by his lovely daughter, Valerie Orazio (Craig Orazio) and his "little one" Jaime LaCrosse (Justin Dowd) ; his sisters, Katherine Thiel, Shirley Johnson, Daisy Lightell, and Sally Fortmayer; his brothers, Johnny LaCrosse and Norwood LaCrosse; and his beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Yvonne LaCrosse nee Sylve, and his brothers, Roddy LaCrosse and Reece LaCrosse.Charley loved Jesus with all his heart, and we take comfort knowing he is home now, probably already planning ways to come back and visit us in his spare time.Charley's homecoming party will be held at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home from 12pm to 2pm on Sunday, March 22nd, the second most terrible day for those of us that loved him.Friends and family are invited to attend and share stories of the departed guest of honor. His daughters respectfully ask that you wear or attach something purple, as it was his favorite color, and he would be immeasurably pleased to know we honored this wish for him.Every day from here forward is a memory that we are blessed to have shared with Charley."I only want to see you laughing in the purple rain."E.J. Fielding Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. The family invites you to share thoughts, fondest memories, and condolences online at E. J.
