(Billy) Smith at the age of 91. He was a resident of Jackson, LA and is predeceased by his parents Albert D. (Bud) Smith and Thelma L. Smith. He is survived by his wife Patricia of 68 years, two sons Lindsey and Lyle and three granddaughters: Sophia, Lucia and Camille.Services will be held on Friday, March 20th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Jackson, LA. Visitation is scheduled for 10am, Mass at 11am followed by burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Saint Francisville. "Billy" was a graduate of McKowen High School, Louisiana State University and Pennsylvania State University. He was an educator having served as a teacher, counselor, principal, professor and Dean of the College of Education at LSU and Texas Tech University. He also served as the Assistant Superintendent for the State Department of Education. After retirement he served as Headmaster at Wilkinson County Christian Academy (WCCA). Before retirement, he was an active member of numerous professional educational organizations. Additionally in 1961 he was called up by the Louisiana National Guard to serve in the event of need during the Berlin Wall crisis. He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Jackson for many decades.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
