Charles William “Charlie” Fox
July 5, 1955— March 6, 2026
Columbus, OH
Charlie William “Charlie” Fox, 70, of Columbus, Ohio, died peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Kobacker Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Columbus on July 5, 1955, to Cecilia and Robert Fox, Charlie was a proud Navy veteran who served aboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65). After graduating from Upper Arlington High School, he briefly followed his father into the insurance business before discovering his true calling as a heavy equipment operator, where he took great satisfaction running cranes. He was also a talented artist and harmonica player with a deep love for music, particularly Frank Zappa and Jimi Hendrix, and he enjoyed watching movies, spending time outdoors, and caring for animals.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of more than 30 years, Andrea (Payne) Fox; his sister Katherine Blake; and his brothers Thomas (Sharie) Fox, James Fox, and David (Kim) Fox. He also leaves behind cousins Richard, Sharon, Lynn, Pam, and John; nieces Taylor, Stephanie, Tiffany, and Alesha; nephews Aaron, Tore, and Tyler; and great-nieces and nephews Amelia, Adell, Buck, Gianna, Josiah, Theodore, Archer, Dean, Ianna, Bronson, Rowan, and Evelyn. He is also remembered by his two beloved cats, Luigi and Sicily, and a wide circle of friends.
Preceded in death by his mother Cecilia (Leonardi) Fox, his youngest sister Claire, and his cousin Barbie Bendekovic, Charlie faced his illnesses—including leukemia, cancer, and diabetes—with his signature humor intact, often leaving those around him laughing or groaning at his jokes. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
