Charles Wesley “Chuck” Herron passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on Thursday, February 26, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, Colorado, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, which he faced with optimism and grace.
Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy; his parents, Wesley and Ida Mae Herron; and his brother, Alan Herron.
Throughout his life, Chuck was known for his dedication, kindness, and steady character. He spent much of his career in the financial services industry and also served honorably in the U.S. Army Reserve. In retirement, Chuck continued to enjoy staying active in the community, spending more than 20 years bringing warmth and cheerful customer service to customers and coworkers at Lowe’s in Louisville and Lafayette, Colorado.
Outside of work, Chuck found great enjoyment in bowling, a pastime he loved for many years. He also had a deep affection for animals and supported organizations that cared for them.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 9998 Grant St., Thornton, CO 80229. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO 80236.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chuck’s honor to the Boulder Humane Society.
Chuck will be remembered for his quiet kindness, dependable character, and the warmth he brought to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
