Charles Stewart

Des Moines, IA

Charles Stewart lived a simple and meaningful life, marked by quiet dedication to his family and community. He married Vineta Lamb in 2002 and retired in 2004 after many years as a mechanic with MTA Bus Lines. A proud U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he carried the experiences of his service with dignity throughout his life.

Charles is survived by his wife, Vineta; his children, Connie (Kenny) Haskell, Kelly Pryor, Kimberly (John) Gillespie, Robert Sumpter, Jackie (Darcy) Stewart, Angel Stewart, and James Stewart; 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; his sister Kinda; and many nieces and nephews.

To those who knew him, Charles was a blessing and a steady presence in his neighborhood, affectionately regarded as the neighborhood grandpa. His gentle spirit and generous heart left a lasting impression on all whose lives he touched.
