Charles Robinson McDiarmid III

Charles Robinson McDiarmid III

August 8, 1968 February 27, 2026

Augusta, GA

Charles Robinson McDiarmid III passed away on February 27, 2026, at Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, after an extended illness. Born on August 8, 1968, at the 130th Station Hospital in Heidelberg, West Germany, he was the son of Vivian and Charles McDiarmid, Jr., of Augusta, Georgia.

An Army dependent, Charles spent his childhood on military bases in Kentucky, Virginia, Texas, Nebraska, and in Mannheim, Hanau, Frankfurt, and Heidelberg, Germany. He traveled extensively throughout Europe during those years. A 1986 graduate of Evans High School, he attended Charleston Southern University and later worked at LyondellBasell in Evansville, Indiana. An avid reader and dedicated coin collector, Charles’s deep patriotism and love of U.S. and world history shaped many of his lifelong interests. He and his wife, Tammy, shared a quiet joy in antiquing, hiking, camping, and exploring the wilderness, often accompanied by their beloved German Shepherds, Kaiser and Otto.

Charles is survived by his wife, Tammy McDiarmid of Henderson, Kentucky; his children, Carlos Valverde McDiarmid, Isabella Maria McDiarmid, and Necati (Nico) Valverde McDiarmid of Martinez, Georgia; his brother, Donald Reese (Mary) of Highlandville, Missouri; his sister, Lelia McDiarmid Sprague (Mark) and nieces Lelia Cameron Sprague of Houston, Texas, and Ashley Reese of Highlandville, Missouri. He is also survived by Tammy’s children—Cody Zinzer, Macie Story (James), and Katee Burwell (Matt)—along with Tammy’s seven grandchildren and her parents, Linda and Leamon Robertson. His dear friends Ty Evans of Plum Branch, South Carolina, and Chris Davies of Port Arthur, Texas, remained constant sources of friendship, prayer, and encouragement for more than thirty years.
