He was predeceased by: his parents, James Willard and Fannie Mae Garrett (Hall); his former wife Juanita Garrett (Nean); his children, Colleen Downs (Linn) and Charles Richard Garrett Jr. (Rick); his grandson Archie Griffin, Jr.; his brother James Garrett; his brother-in-law Rev. Dwight Skeans; his stepfathers, Raymond Castle and Willie Couch; his son-in-law Archie Griffin; his great grandchild Denny Solva (DJ); his sisters, Minnie Lanier and Patricia Smith; and his siblings-in-law, Jimmy Lewis, Larry James and Betty Garrett.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Garrett (Hicks) of Lakeland, FL; his daughters, Peggy Spivey (Kelly) of Jacksonville, AL and Deanna Edwards (George) of Somerset, KY; his stepdaughters, Christy Jones (Stephen) of Auburndale, FL and Misty Hicks of Lakeland, FL; his grandchildren, Angie Griffin, Cassie Hannam, Juanita Vazquez (Ulises), Charles Richard "Chuckie" Garrett III (Christin), Destiny Garrett, Kendra Acevedo (Thomas), Salena Dunn, Christopher Coulombe, Tony Edwards (Amanda) and Kyle Edwards (Whitney); his stepgrandchildren, Gracie Jones, Mercy Jones, Nellie Jones and Reece Hicks; and his siblings, Rev. Marty Garrett (Linda) of Lake Alfred, FL, Mary James of West Liberty, Carol Skeans of Lakeland, FL and Jackalene Lewis of Gallipolis, Ohio. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Bethany Free Will Baptist Church (2905 Iowa Rd, Lakeland, FL 33803). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
