Charles Peter Resseguie

Charles Peter Resseguie

April 8, 1941 March 9, 2026

Pensacola, FL

Charles Peter Resseguie, 84, of Pensacola, Florida, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 9, 2026.

Born on April 8, 1941, in Manhattan, New York, to Charles and Virginia Resseguie, Charlie built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and a deep appreciation for music and the outdoors. He was the devoted husband of Phyllis Resseguie for 51 years, and together they created a large and loving family that remained the heart of his world. His greatest joy was the love he shared with Phyllis, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A man of strong Christian faith, Charlie was a longtime member of Heritage Baptist Church of Pensacola, a Gideon, and an evangelist who never missed an opportunity to share the Gospel. He took pride in his craft as a skilled ceramic tile and marble contractor, beginning as an apprentice at age 15 and continuing until his retirement at 72. He often described himself simply as “a tile man,” reflecting his humility and dedication to honest work.

Charlie’s love of music was evident in his songwriting, singing, and guitar playing, especially his renditions of doo-wop, gospel, and country songs that brought joy to family gatherings. He found great pleasure in the outdoors, enjoying deer and turkey hunting, trout and perch fishing, crabbing, and gardening. He also cherished friendly competition and fellowship through pool, bowling, church-league softball, pinochle, and Mexican Train dominoes, and remained a loyal New York Mets fan throughout his life.

Known for his warm spirit, sense of humor, and playful expressions like “Wow-ee!”, Charlie touched everyone around him with his stories and his ability to bring light to ordinary moments. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Elizabeth McGrogan, Catherine Resseguie, and Virginia Farina, brother Robert Resseguie, and beloved son Charlie Resseguie.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Resseguie of Pensacola, Florida; his children Cheryl Del Monico of Stewartsville, New Jersey, Pamela Gerthoffer of Charleston, South Carolina, Robin (Ed) Wright of Norwich, New York, Denise (Frank) Pellegrino of Wayne, New Jersey, Nicole (Grant) De Jong of Pensacola, Florida, and David (Gennifer) Resseguie of Taylors, South Carolina; his grandchildren Amanda, Larry, Jacqueline, VJ, Stephen, Edmund, Michael, Lucas, Nick, Tommy, Danielle, Abigail, Katherine, Charlotte, Charles, and Cameron; great-grandchildren Stephen and Jackson; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and Latasha Dobbins, who became a cherished member of the family.
