Smith Funeral Services - Dover website to view the full obituary.Charles Nelson Lee Scott, Sr. affectionately known as 'Pop' was born on April 30, 1943, to the late Russell and Clara Scott in Rock Hall, Maryland. He peacefully departed this life on March 6, 2026.Charles was educated in the Kent County, Maryland school system. Throughout his life, he worked various construction jobs. He later became a member of the Delaware Laborers LocalUnion 199, from which he retired in 2012 after many years of dedicated service.Charles was united in holy matrimony to Beverly Anita McGee on November 8, 1980. Together they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and family.He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, gardening, fishing, and watching classic western movies. Charles will always be remembered for his warm spirit and the joy he brought to those around him. He was the kind of man people called when something needed fixing. With a few tools, patience, and creativity, he could repair almost anything. Along the way, he would share one of his memorable stories; told so well that everyone left laughing. Whether fixing a problem or lifting spirits, he had a way of making every place a little better than he found it.Charles was a devoted member of Resurrection Power Church, where he faithfully worshiped.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Turner, and his brother, Marvin Scott.Charles leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Beverly Scott of Middletown, DE; three children, Charles Scott of Glen Burnie, MD, Aretha Dorsey (Samuel) of Chestertown, MD, and Dorene Scott of Worton, MD; three stepchildren, Sharone Scott (William) of Chestertown, MD, Shawn Tiller (Falisha) of Middletown, DE, and Kyra Tiller of Dover, DE; one brother, Russell Scott, Jr. of Rock Hall, MD; one sister, Maryann Johnson of Rock Hall, MD; one sister-in-law, Shirley Scott of Rock Hall, MD; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who loved him dearly.Read The Full ObituaryTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
