Charles Nelson Lee Scott, Sr., affectionately known as “Pop,” was born on April 30, 1943, in Rock Hall, Maryland, to the late Russell and Clara Scott. He passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026.

Educated in the Kent County, Maryland school system, Charles spent his working life in construction before becoming a proud member of the Delaware Laborers Local Union 199. He retired in 2012 after many years of dedicated service. On November 8, 1980, he married Beverly Anita McGee, and together they shared 45 years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and family.

Charles found joy in spending time with family and friends, cooking, gardening, fishing, and watching classic western movies. He was known for his warm spirit and his remarkable ability to fix nearly anything with tools, patience, and creativity. He had a gift for storytelling that left everyone laughing, and he had a way of making every place a little better than he found it. A devoted member of Resurrection Power Church, he worshiped faithfully throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Rebecca Turner, and his brother Marvin Scott. Charles is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Scott of Middletown, Delaware; his children, Charles Scott of Glen Burnie, Maryland, Aretha Dorsey (Samuel) of Chestertown, Maryland, and Dorene Scott of Worton, Maryland; his stepchildren, Sharone Scott (William) of Chestertown, Maryland, Shawn Tiller (Falisha) of Middletown, Delaware, and Kyra Tiller of Dover, Delaware; his brother, Russell Scott, Jr. of Rock Hall, Maryland; his sister, Maryann Johnson of Rock Hall, Maryland; his sister-in-law, Shirley Scott of Rock Hall, Maryland; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who loved him dearly.
