Charles Wells ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by DeArman Pickard Funeral Home - Stratford on Mar. 16, 2026.Charles Morgan Danny Wells, known as "Danny," was born July 1, 1952, in Ada, Oklahoma, toCharles Morgan and Phercella Wells. He passed away on March 13, 2026, at the age of 73.Danny's main identity was in Jesus Christ. He was baptized into Christ at an early age andserved the Lord faithfully throughout his life. He attended the Church of Christ in Stratford as achild, where he met his future wife, Betty Jarrell. Later in life, he served as an elder at the EastMain Church of Christ in Stratford for 15 years.Danny married Betty Jarrell on August 30, 1972. Betty was his beloved. They shared a lifetimeof love and adventure, and you rarely saw one without the other. They were best friends, andtheir bond was deep because of their shared love for Jesus and His church.In the early years of marriage, Danny and Betty lived in Stillwater while Danny pursued aBachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University. He became an AgriculturalEducation teacher and FFA advisor, teaching at Wanoka, Tecumseh, and Stratford over theyears. Eventually, they settled in Stratford, where they lived for the remainder of their lives.Danny and Betty had three children, which became six when each child married. Danny oftensaid he had six children and was proud of every one of them. Together, Danny and Betty taughttheir children the necessity of faith in Jesus Christ and the importance of being involved in thework of the Lord. Danny also taught many life lessons, including the value of integrity, honesty,and hard work. Most importantly, he taught them how to love and cherish a spouse.Danny was an educator in every sense of the word. He was a teacher of the Bible, a public schoolteacher by profession, and a teacher in life. He loved teaching the Bible both in churchassemblies and in private conversations. Professionally, he taught agricultural education, science,and technology education. Over the years, he made a lasting impact on many students. He waseven honored to perform marriage ceremonies and funerals for former students and theirfamilies. It was nearly impossible to go anywhere in central Oklahoma with Danny withouthearing a former student say, "Mr. Wells, is that you? You were such a great teacher!"After retiring from teaching, Danny worked for the Chickasaw Nation in their Division ofEducation. During his time there, he helped pave the way for the division to become a fulldepartment, which continues to serve many Chickasaw citizens pursuing higher education.Together, Danny and Betty raised show lambs and cattle. They partnered with Kenneth Jarrell tobuild and maintain the J-J Brangus Ranch herd. Danny and Betty were active members of boththe Oklahoma Brangus Association and the International Brangus Breeders Association. Overthe years, they served these organizations in several elected roles, with Danny serving multipleterms as president. Through their work with cattle and sheep, they formed many cherishedfriendships that lasted a lifetime.It was said by his mother that Danny didn't start walking at nine months - he started running.And he didn't stop running until the day he died. Even on the day he passed, he began themorning making calls, looking for ways to serve those he loved and cherished.Danny was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Wells; his parents, Charles Morgan andPhercella Wells; and his brother, Wayneth Wells.He is survived by his daughter, Katie Hayes and husband Tim of Callisburg, Texas; sons JaredWells and wife Rachel of Hale Center, Texas, and Jeffrey Wells and wife Hannah of Lindsay,Texas; and his sister, Malipsa Wells of Stonewall, Oklahoma. Danny and Betty were also blessedwith 12 grandchildren whom they loved dearly.A visitation will be held at the DeArman (Pickard) Funeral Home in Stratford, Oklahoma, onThursday, March 19, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. The memorial service will be held Friday, March 20,at 10:00 a.m. at the Stratford High School Auditorium. The service will be officiated by long-term friends and brothers in Christ, Larry Sneed and Ray Newell.The family appreciates those who wish to express their love for Danny and the family by sendingflowers.
