Charles Miller Carson, Sr. was born on January 15, 1949, to George and Doris Carson in Goodman, Mississippi. The second of nine children, he was baptized at the age of seven at St. Mark’s Baptist Church in Mississippi.

After moving to Chicago, Illinois, Charles became an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ, where he participated in the Men’s Fellowship and was well known for preparing his signature peach cobbler every third Sunday for the congregation. In 2014, he and his family relocated to North Las Vegas, Nevada, and joined Second Baptist Church, where he continued to worship regularly and formed many cherished friendships.

A lifelong entrepreneur, Charles owned several businesses. Together with his uncle and cousin, he operated a lounge in Chicago. He later established a company specializing in building, selling, and repairing computers. In 2000, he attended truck driving school, purchased his own truck, and founded CG Trucking Company.

Charles was remembered as a patient, loving, and considerate man who made friends easily and held his family close to his heart, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Doris Carson; sisters Tina, Shirley, and Mamie; and brothers Eugene, George, and Derry. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Carson; sons Vernon Covington and Charles Carson Jr.; daughters Crystal Carson and Dr. Cheronda Pinkard; granddaughters Jeawa Carson, Chaya Carson, and Jamaia Gary; grandsons Vernon and Verntrell Covington, Charles Najee Carson, Elyja, Isaya, and Josyia Pinkard; great-granddaughter Sabrina Covington; sister Linda; brother Michael; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
