Charles DeLettre ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Integrity Funeral Home & Cremations - Jacksonville on Mar. 17, 2026.Charles Maurice DeLettre- born on December 14, 1941 gained his heavenly wings on March 13, 2026 from various illnesses after a miraculous 7 months starting in MAYO/ICU with heart disease. True earth angels called doctors & nurses were instrumental in that time.Charles "Chuck" (84) a resident of Jacksonville, Florida preceded in death by his father, Charles Albert DeLettre of Waycoss GA & Marion Estelle (Atkinson) DeLettre of Kingsland, GA& his sister Laverne (DeLettre) Dilts.Charles resided on the southside however he grew up in the Tallulah North Shore area (Perry St. off of Pearl) & attended Andrew Jackson High School.The Trout River was his favorite "tromping grounds" as a boy & where he developed a love for nature & our great city of Jacksonville that he was so proud of.Charles was extremely knowledgeable in all eras of the music industry which fueled his love for playing a few instruments & even joining a band in which one of their songs hit the local radio station & a childhood dream was accomplished.Through college, his career started by selling records at Abe Livert Records (Floridas oldest record store) where he gained a further love of music & the artists who created it. Moving on to Hoyt Stereo where he learned the equipment side of the industry.His career in television started in 1970 as a local news anchorman for TV 17ABC. Commercial creative services director for TV 47 & remote cameraman for TV 7 PBS were all part of his television career.Finally hosting & producing radio & TV for FJC (now FSCJ) during the 70s. Interviewing such guests as - Dr. Wernher von Braun (space shuttle pioneer) Leonard Nimoy (Spock),Jose Feliciano, Bill Withers and oceanographer- colonist Jean Michele' Cousteau were just a few of his favorites.He spent the final years of his career in the advertisement industry as an ad executive & creator for a local newspaper.The love & pride he had for his family was his greatest treasure. He was a colorful & very entertaining character that never met a stranger.The ultimate optimist with just about anything, but especially his children & grandchildren.He is survived by his loving wife: Molly (Overstreet) DeLettre, Daughters: Deanna Clement (Bill), Denise Simmons (Ches)Mary Peninoy (Jeff), Holly DeLetrre (Ryan), Son: Charles Christian DeLetrre, Grandchildren: Kirsten & Carson ClementJude & Bella Simmons, Jefferson, Tristan & Jaxton Peninoy, Emma Miller & Evan Strickland.There will be a celebration of his very colorful life at:Integrity Funeral Home1662 Stockton St. 32204Saturday, March 21st at 2pmIn lieu of flowers donations to his place of worship: Shepard of the Woods Lutheran Church or his favorite charity: St Jude's Children's Hospital.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
