Charles Rulon ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Gress, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home - Hardin on Mar. 9, 2026.Charles (Chuck) Manuel Rulon passed away on March, 2, 2026.He was born on August 8, 1952, the son of the late Charles (Charlie) L and Charlotte Rulon residing in Alabama.His young life was spent in Calhoun County growing up with his brothers Micheal and Kirby and spending a lot of time on the farm and time with his grandparents. He later graduated from Calhoun high school and worked at his grandparents (Leo and Verna) at their shell gas station in Kampsville. At this time he entered the Navy but was soon honorably discharged and him and Ruth Ann Krause were married early in 1972. Later on that year they welcomed their one and only Child Tammy into this world. Later they were divorced and this is when his career as a long haul truck driver started. After a few years he met his second wife Donna Gay and went on to adopt her two younger children Sheri and Chuck and they took his last name. They lived in Texas for a short time and in the mid 80s moved back to Calhoun where Chuck enjoyed spending time at home and watching young Chucks many football games. Later he found himself divorced again and moved in with Verna Rulon his grandmother to help support some of her needs. For many years after this Chuck and Billie Craigmiles became loving companions. At this time his health started declining to the point of not being able to drive a truck any longer. He was a big man and a big hearted man.His biggest enjoyment was to make people laugh and to just have that one more joke! He loved playing cards or any game for that matter. He was a gambler but you could rarely beat him in a friendly game. He enjoyed watching the same old movies over again, Star Trek and Football and children play.Preceding him in death are his grandparents James Leo and Verna (Dirksmeyer) Rulon, Ralph and Norma (Pruitt)Cates, his father Charles Leroy Rulon, brother Kirby Lynn Rulon, ex-wife Donna Rulon, and a son and law Robert Harman.Surviving are his mother Charlotte (Cates)Rulon of Alabama, His brother Micheal and Anita Rulon of Alabama; their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His only child Tammy L (Rulon)Harman of Kane Il and her two boys Dustin J Harman of Kane Il and Sean D Harman of Holliday Shores Il.Graveside service will be Saturday, March, 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Summit Grove Cemetery in Kampsville, IL.Any memorials or flowers can be donated at the funeral home or the Hardin American Legion.Online Condolences can be made at www.kallalandschaaf.com.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
