Charles Francis Gladish

Sagle, ID

Charles Francis Gladish passed away on March 6 at the age of 90. Born on October 16, 1935, in Pullman, Washington, to Oscar E. and Janet Gladish, Chuck grew up with a spirit of adventure that would define his life. He attended Washington State College, graduating in 1958. It was there that he met Sonia, the love of his life, and they married on June 20, 1959.

After graduation, Chuck joined the U.S. Air Force, serving as a fighter pilot for seven and a half years. He then began a long and distinguished commercial flying career, first with Pan American Airlines for 25 years and later with Delta Airlines for four years. Upon retiring, he and Sonia purchased a motorhome and spent several years traveling across the United States before settling in northern Idaho, where they lived in Cocolalla and later Sagle for 30 years.

Chuck was a lifelong member of the NRA, served as past president of the Cocolalla Lake Association, and volunteered at the Bird Museum in Sagle. He is survived by his devoted wife Sonia, daughters Jennifer Foster (Rick) and Leslie Taylor (Rick), granddaughters Kelsey Anderson (Sam), Sarah Hawkins (Coleman), and Tenille Steranka (Jordan), grandson Joshua Foster, and three and a half great-grandchildren.
