Charles Evertt Shaw

March 10, 1941 March 11, 2026

Cassville, MO

Charles Evertt “Chuck” Shaw was born on March 10, 1941, to Mildred E. (Barnes) Shaw and Evertt R. Shaw in Bassett, Nebraska, joining his older sisters Joan E. and Beverly Jean Shaw. Raised on the family ranch southeast of Bassett, he grew up working the land that would become his lifelong home. He attended the one-room Sybrant District 77 school through eighth grade and graduated from Rock County High School in Bassett with the class of 1959. Active in sports and deeply involved in the Future Farmers of America, he earned the State Farmer Degree in 1959 and the American Farmer Degree in 1961, forming many lifelong friendships through the organization.

In 1961, Chuck married Ann Marie Schubert at the Rose Church in Rose, Nebraska. Together they raised five children: twins Tim and Tom, born in 1965, Wendy in 1968, Connie in 1976, and Kari in 1981. A fourth-generation Nebraska rancher, Chuck continued the family legacy until his retirement in 2019. He served his community through numerous organizations, including more than fifty years on the KBR Rural Public Power Board, the Newport Volunteer Fire Department, the Valley Grove and Sybrant Community Church boards, the Rock County Farm Bureau, the Sandhills Cattle Association Board, and Steer Incorporated. A lifelong follower of Christ, he touched many lives as a youth group leader, morning worship leader, and Sunday School teacher, especially influencing the young people who worked on the ranch, including his own grandchildren.

In retirement, Chuck and Ann made their home in Cassville, Missouri, where he enjoyed the fellowship of the First Baptist Church, the Cassville Car Club, and the Cassville Senior Center. He passed away on March 11, 2026, in Cassville, surrounded by the love of family and faith that defined his life.

Chuck is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Ann; his children and their families, including grandchildren Quinton, Jared (Taylor), Carson, Taryn (Harry), Jeb, Tyler (Krystal), Travis (Sarah), Trevor (Ericah), Jordon (Eric), Brianna (Ben), Newt (Lexi), Evan, Elizabeth, and Lily; eight great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law Rex Schubert and his wife Cindy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Joan (Lloyd Vogt) and Jean (Bob Mason).
