Charles Elvin Nolen, age 84 of Delight, Arkansas, passed away on March 16, 2026 in Little Rock. He was born on February 24, 1942 in Antione, the son of the late John Elvin Nolen and Hollie Mae Nolen Hughes.
Charles began ranch work in California at the age of 14. He also worked for the California State Forestry. After this, he returned to Arkansas and married his forever love, Esther. He worked for International Paper for 32 years and retired as a dozer operator.
Mr. Nolen was a steadfast Christian who attended the Saline Church of Christ. He loved to attend Bible Classes and to read his Bible daily. He loved music, singing and playing his harmonica. He loved to work outdoors in his shop welding and fabricating various objects and tools. After retirement, he referred to himself as a “Professional Piddler.” Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Nolen and two brothers, William Kelsey Nolen and Billy Ray Nolen.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Esther Nolen; two children and their spouses, Darwin Nolen and Tammy and Sheree Gunn and Derrick; his sister, Mary Stallings; eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Murfreesboro.
