Charles Edward Salis Sr., age 74, of Detroit, Michigan, passed away on March 6, 2026. Born on March 11, 1951, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Robert and Mary (Hussey) Salis, he earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Wayne State University. Charles devoted his career to helping others as a social worker, later serving as a supervisor before retiring. He continued working part-time at Silverspoon Home Services, supporting pregnant women and infants until his final day.

He is survived by his children, son Charles (Jasmin) Salis, daughter Jennifer Salis, and daughter Alicia (Darius) Alston; grandchildren Demonta, Kameran, Gabrielle, Charles III, Camryn, Tristan, Malcolm, and Mila; siblings Betty Shelton, Antoinette Salis Johnson, and Donald Salis Sr.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved partner Elizabeth Reed, his parents, and siblings Anthony Salis, Elnora Salis, and Robert Salis Jr., who passed away on the same day as Charles due to an unrelated cause.

Charles was deeply devoted to his family and took great pride in his role as a father and grandfather, known affectionately as Papa. His happiest moments were spent with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching movies and sports, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, staying informed on current events, and cherishing time with loved ones. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, cooking skills, willingness to help others, strong work ethic, generosity, and for always putting family first.
