Charles Edward Reeves Sr.
November 29, 1938— March 8, 2026
Covington, LA
Charles Edward Reeves, Sr., known affectionately as Charlie, was born on November 29, 1938, in Houma, Louisiana, to Sybil Blackwell Reeves and Robert Hercy Reeves, Sr. Raised on the bayou and in the oil fields of South Louisiana, where his father co-founded Two “R” Drilling Company, Charles learned the value of hard work from an early age. His family later moved to New Orleans, where he excelled both academically and athletically at Warren Easton Senior High School as a star running back.
After graduating from Louisiana State University with a degree in geology in 1960 and earning his J.D. from Tulane Law School in 1963, Charles practiced law at Milling, Saal, Saunders, Benson & Woodward before joining the family business as Executive Vice President. Following the company’s acquisition, he served as Vice President of Legal Affairs until his retirement in 2002. A medical marvel to many, Charles survived a devastating 1973 automobile accident that required an experimental surgery, allowing him to enjoy another 53 years with his loved ones.
Charles married his college sweetheart and welcomed daughter Carla Louise and son Charles Edward, Jr. In December 1966, he married Brenda Karen Carr after meeting on a blind date. Together they raised daughters Kylan Minette and Kristen Marie, creating a lively home filled with dogs, river life, and laughter on the Northshore in Covington. An avid outdoorsman, Charles cherished boating, hunting, fishing, golf, and family trips aboard the Two “R” houseboat “Le Chose.” He was known for his playful pranks in the duck blind, his wry wit, and his quiet generosity.
Behind his sharp humor and sarcastic grin lay a deeply caring, compassionate man who supported others without seeking recognition. A champion of education, he quietly helped those around him grow and pursue brighter futures. Charles is survived by his children Carla, Charles Jr., Kylan, and Kristen; six grandchildren, Blake Bodin, Bren Bodin, Brooks Bodin, Peyton Reeves, Briley Bodin White, and Braden Bodin; and one great-granddaughter, Grey Elise Reeves. He was preceded in death by his wife Brenda, his parents, his brother Robert Reeves Jr., his sister Margaret Reeves, and his son-in-law Dr. Christopher Bodin.
