Charles Earl Ward
September 11, 1948— March 11, 2026
Conroe, TX
Charles Earl Ward, of Conroe, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on March 11, 2026, at the age of 77. Born in Dallas, Texas, on September 11, 1948, to Edward Ward and Lahoma Donaldson Ward, he graduated from Athens High School in 1967 and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After his military service, Charles worked for GE Electric in Tyler for 16 years before beginning a long and dedicated career with the T.D.C.J., from which he retired.
A lifelong Christian and member of Bois D’Arc Baptist Church, Charles gave generously of his time and talents to his church and community. His deepest devotion, however, was reserved for his family. For 58 years he was the steady rock and primary support for his wife, Beth Pierce Ward, caring for her with unwavering strength through every stage of her medical treatments. A true old-school handyman, he took great pride in building their home with his own hands, relying on a hammer and hard work while famously refusing to use a nail gun. He will be remembered for his strong hands, kind heart, and the solid foundations he created for those he loved.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Johnny Morris. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beth Pierce Ward; his daughter, Charlya Elizabeth Ward; his son, Charles “David” Ward; his sisters, Bernice Harris (Tommy) and Kathy Battenfield (Ron); his brothers, Ed Ward (Michael Martin) and Allen Goolsby (Andea); his grandchildren, Braeden Silver, Michael Ward, and John Ward; and his great-grandchildren, Elisa Ward and Ezra Ward, along with other loving family members and many friends.
